Seven Dials Adventure!

So give it to me, why are we waiting?
I know what you need and I'm not gonna stop
Whatever the weather!
                                                                      - The Saturdays, What About Us.

What do I love the most about London? I think the fact that I can take a wrong turn, end up the opposite direction from where I planned to be and stumble across an unexpected treasure and experience.

That is what happened on my way to Seven dials when I found Benjamin Franklin's House.

So, I decided to go in and take the tour. It was really interesting! I had no idea Ben Franklin spent so much time in London.

Standing in the same rooms he had lived in seeing artefacts and re-enactments was truly mesmerising! The imagination truly runs wild.

I truly did enjoy it!

Stoping for a nice lunch (despite the cold face) outside the National Gallery.

At the National Gallery I fell in love with Vincent van Gough. Especially, his A Wheatfield, with Cypresses, 1889 (below).

I bought a postcard sized print for my room and plan to buy a large framed print when I return to Australia. I must admit I moved quite quickly through most of the gallery. I think art is something I can only do in small doses. Sorry to all my arty friends. I do enjoy it, just not hours of it. ha ha! Van Gough truly was the highlight here!

That day I did make it to Seven Dials where the books Belle and The Promise by Lesley Pearse where set. It is truly fantastic to see a place you have read about. Seven Dials has become a real trendy area and I very much enjoyed the shops and the vibe there! I don't think I can liken it to anything in Sydney.

I discovered two new loves there.

The first Bolongaro Trevor a very trendy clothing store. They only make 50 items of each design, so the chance someone else will be wearing the same clothing as you is rare - LOVE THAT! I bought two shirts and a jumper. Spent too much money but am in LOVE and I know I will shop there soon again!

The second being Divine Chocolate - oh AmAzInG!!!! Divine had a pop-up Fair Trade show!  Pop Up shops are quite common in the London area and is when a company hires a shop for a few days only to display their product.

Here I am with the Fair Trade Warrior!

Not only is Divine chocolate delicious it is Fair Trade and the company is 45% owned by Ghanian farmers! I loved the samples So much I bought 6 blocks:

What else should I tell you...

I am constantly cold! Apparently it is the coldest March in London for 50 years!
And it just had to be like that the year I came!

I don't understand when I see people wearing sunglasses outside as it is ALWAYS cloudy. I especially don't understand when they where them on the underground train!

        Canada Water by night!

Hope you all are had an excellent Easter! Our Lord has conquered death and set us free!
Amen!!!!

Love you long time,
Joey!!!!

St Patty's Day!

Don't look before you laugh

                                                                                                   - U2, City of Blinding Lights.

So despite being an hour away I didn't make it to Ireland for St.Patty's day. Maybe next year?? I did however spend a WONDERFUL Sunday in London!

Armed with three beautiful girls - one housemate from Greece and two teachers also from Australia!!!

We headed into Piccadilly, leaving home it was quite mild but, London being London, when we emerged from the tube 20mins later it was cold and raining!

Christina and I trying not to focus on the cold as we waited!

However, just before the parade began the rain stopped!

So, let the parade begin!

The music was FANTASTIC!

This COLOURFUL creature is the MYSTICAL lock-nest-monster!

        This guy was pretty good!

Despite having no idea why they were dressed as cows these girls provided a lot of
CHEEKY fun!

Channelling CARNIVAL!

                             I seriously NEED this car!!!!

After the parade we headed inside for some of that wholesome London pub food!

I had a delicious lime and chilli infused salmon burger! SO YUMMMM!!!!!

Trying Ben’s cookies!

I chose milk chocolate and peanut butter!

Forget two dinners! Two desserts for me with heavenly Ladurée macaroons later on!

You know you love me,
xoxo,
Joey Joe Joe!
