Everywhere
around (him) people were doing ordinary things, they were driving cars and
pushing buggies, walking dogs and coming home as if life was exactly the same.
But it wasn’t. It was all new! – Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry, Rachael
Joyce.
Welcome to Hampton Court Palace!
The Palace was originally built for Cardinal Thomas Wolsey around 1514, however, when Wolsey fell from favour in 1529 the palace was passed to King Henry VIII, who renovated it.
It continued as a Royal Palace until the 18th Century.
Every inch of the Palace is beautifully decorated!
Ta Da!!!!!
Can not believe
Henry VIII walked these halls too!!!!
We stopped for a very English afternoon tea!
And then...
My new friend Jonathan and I found our way to the middle of the most famous Maze in the world, located in Hampton Court Gardens!
It
was commissioned around 1700 by William III.
Even with Jess kindly acting as my personal photographer for the day!
No visit would be complete without a sneaky selfie...
Sitting in a replica of Young Henry VIII's chair.
Delicious fish n chips for dinner to finish off my very British day!
From Hampton Court to the Banqueting House...
The Banqueting House was designed in 1619 for James I.
It is also the site where King Charles I was executed. The only English King to ever be executed!
The Palace burnt down in 1698. However, as fate would have it the banqueting room remained unharmed!
What is most amazing about the House, is the divine paintings on the celling by artist Sir Peter Paul Rubens in 1629.
Even the bathrooms are classy...
It must be time to enjoy a nice dinner! Bye for now!
